Next Level Learning (October Tool)

I just started using Sutori for a STEM Class. Timelines can be used to visually demonstrate learning of  all kinds: events, procedures, time periods, locations. Visit this site and view the student-created examples. Now think of something that students learn in your course that could be demonstrated in timeline format and make four posts on a Sutori timeline.

Flipgrid allows teachers to set up a site (“grid”) and pose a question via video for students or others to answer, also via video. Users respond to the initial question, with their responses becoming part of a threaded video conversation. You can create one free, then need to delete it before creating a new one.

Desmos.com is the best online graphing calculator!  Extremely easy to use, this site will easily graph equations, no matter the complexity!  From basic algebra through complex quadratics, Desmos can handle it all!  There are many, many resources for teachers also!

Kahoot is a collection of questions on specific topics. Created by teachers, students, business-people and social users, they are asked in real-time, to an unlimited number of “players”, creating a social, fun and game-like learning environment.

Flippity is a website that gives you a demo/instructions/template for turning a Google spreadsheet into a number of classroom tools such as memory game, flash cards, mad libs, bingo, badge tracker and more!  After you have explored the options, open a Google sheet, then get the “add-on” for Flippity.  That way you can access the templates any time you open up a Google sheet.

How to Annotate a PDF in Google Drive You can post articles in Blackboard, then have students download them, and then upload into their Google Drive. Here they can click on the + sign in the upper right hand corner to highlight and make comments. Have them create a Google Folder and share it with you. Then go in and see their reading and notes as a formative assessment!

How to Insert a Video into Google Slides Want to add a video to your presentation to actually take students to view the content first hand?! Simply go to Insert, Video, then search YouTube or get a URL. The video will show large on the screen without embedding. You can also insert videos you create and store in Google Drive.

Insert hundreds of prepared comments into Google Docs & Slides from four levels including university. Each comment identifies the error, and explains and shows students how to revise writing. You can add your own comments so you don’t have to rewrite each time. Can also use video and audio feedback option.

Highlighter Chrome Extension Highlight text on websites with a simple right-click or keyboard shortcut. Saves highlights on your device. Simply select text, then right click to select “Highlight” option. All highlights are saved so they will not be lost when you exit the page. They show up only for you! Four highlight colors. Great if you assign or have students find websites as they research so they can highlight the parts they want you to look at. You can remove all highlights if you desire.
