3. This series of workshops will provide you the opportunity to grow in a fun, safe and supportive environment. How and what you decide to implement into your classroom is up to you–personalized learning at its best!

  • Program-specific– it’s what we as Facilitators deem as core components across the board.
  • Center-specific– it’s what the Facilitator deems as practical and relevant to their teachers based on their needs and wants.
  • In the TEC21 Workshop Program, how are short- and long-term goals defined?
    • SHORT-TERM – Some sort of technology integrating lesson or activity you want to do with your students THIS MONTH.
    • LONG-TERM – A major change in the way you teach or manage your classroom. “I want to do less of THAT and more of THIS.” It could include a blog, a wiki, a web site used for flipping your classroom, going paperless with Google Docs, using digital portfolios for student work, integrating project based learning using a specific tool or tools – there are many possibilities. Think of something you’ve seen or heard about that makes you “spark” and think, “Yeah! I want to do more of THAT!”

5. Concordia University, Nebraska offers college credit opportunities (optional). The TEC21 Workshop Program fulfills the requirements for any of the following three options:

TEC21 is considered a second semester class–EDUC 513. To receive college credit, register online between December 1, 2017 – January 31, 2018.  

Your workshop facilitator will use the following rubric to assign a letter at the end of the program: TEC21 Grading Rubric.

6. Upcoming events:

  • The next workshop date is scheduled for (day of the week), (date).
  • Facilitators, please add any other local, regional or national events (i.e. local pd opportunities such as EdCamps, district fall conferences, LEA Convocation, etc. – all of which provide great opportunities for TEC21 teachers to connect outside of the workshops).
  • #LuthEd Twitter chats take place on Monday evenings from 8:00-9:00CST throughout the school year.

We look forward in this workshop to begin getting to know each other and taking a high-level look at the ministry of TEC21.

1. Discover TEC21’s vision and mission – what we do, how we do it and most importantly why we do it.

2. Connect to TEC21’s online Google+ community and begin to grow your professional learning network (PLN).

3. Gain an understanding of the TEC21 road map for the school year culminating in May with “Celebration Day”.

Google Forms

Make it, take it – Let’s create a Google Form!

  • Give it a title.
  • Build your form by adding different question types.
  • You might search a YouTube video, grab the url and insert video into the the form.
  • Spruce up the form by changing the default theme using one of Google’s featured theme’s or select customize to change font and color scheme and to insert an image for the background and/or header.

Google Classroom is a blended learning platform developed by Google for schools that aims to simplify creating, distributing and grading assignments in a paperless way.  (Mike use’s this regularly)

Google Drive

Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service developed by Google. Google Drive allows users to store files in the cloud, synchronize files across devices, and share files.

Google Sheets

Google Sheets is a Web-based application that allows users to create, update and modify spreadsheets and share the data live online. The Ajax-based program is compatible with Microsoft Excel and CSV (comma-separated values) files. Sheets can also be saved as HTML.

Google Slides lets you collaborate with others creating slides in real time. You can insert text boxes, images, videos, shapes, arrows, equations, and callouts. … You can rearrange slides, change presentation styles, and add speaker notes.

TabScissors

Tab Scissors is a Google Chrome extension that splits a window into two at the selected tab.  If you have at least two tabs in the selected Chrome window, it will split that window into two smaller side-by-side windows.  All the tabs on the left side of the selected tab will stay in the left window, and the rest will move to the window on the right.  Great for those of you who have multiple tabs open at once.  Works great with Tab Glue

TabGlue

Tab Glue is a Google Chrome extension that glues windows together.  This simple organizer tool puts all of your Chrome tabs together into one window with a single click.  The new window has your tabs arranged in the same order your windows were, and makes the selected tab in your current window be the new selected tab, so you won’t lose track of where your tabs were or what you were doing.  Works great with Tab Scissors!

Glide is the fastest live video messenger app on the planet. It combines the convenience of texting with the expressiveness of video chat. Now you and your friends/family can share real moments as they happen, and enjoy quality facetime.

Haiku Deck Presentation and slide show app/website. Amazing search feature for free images. Also create easy clear charts and graphs to demonstrate learning.

flipgrid

Flipgrid allows teachers to set up a site (“grid”) and pose a question via video for students or others to answer, also via video. Users respond to the initial question, with their responses becoming part of a threaded video conversation. You can create one free, then need to delete it before creating a new one. Try this sample Flipgrid out!

PhotosGoogle

Google Photos is a photo sharing and storage service developed by Google. It was announced in May 2015 and spun out from Google+, the company’s social network. Google Photos gives users free, unlimited storage for photos up to 16 megapixels and videos up to 1080p resolution.

Simply click Edit, type in your students’ names, save, then share using the URL created. To create another spinner for small groups simply click New, then follow the same steps.

Free online tutorials for grades K-12 in a variety of subjects including Math, Science, Computing, History, Art, Grammar, Economics, and more. Ready made videos students can watch and rewatch to learn.

ILA and NCTE website of all things literacy for students in grades K-12. Lesson plans and student interactives excellent for all writing and reading topics. Many activities can be done online, others download an app. Spend some time here and be amazed!

Kahoot is a collection of questions on specific topics. Created by teachers, students, business-people and social users, they are asked in real-time, to an unlimited number of “players”, creating a social, fun and game-like learning environment.

Ready to use lessons with videos, review questions, discussion, and digging deeper resources.

An amazing resource for teachers. This website is constantly updated with great articles, apps, websites, and other technology resources that teachers can use in the classroom.

Safe share is a great resource to remove unwanted ads from YouTube videos. It also allows you to create a clip from a video.

Practice skills in Math, LA, Science and Social Studies here for grades  Pre-K through 12. Option to have questions read to support learning. Try it out!

Free K-12 news source for schools. Lexile leveled articles can be read at a variety of reading levels with the touch of a button so all students can read the same information at a level they can understand. Daily AP news articles, critical thinking questions, Spanish articles, Tech articles.

Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to your own desktop to use as you wish.
